Social Activities

When someone moves to a new country, there is a lot to do and learn. Making new friends, learning your way around, finding a dentist, doctor, veterinarian, hairdresser, mastering the various bureaucratic systems, or exploring new parts of the country all take time and energy.

The connections you make by becoming a CAA member will help you settle in more quickly and start enjoying your new lifestyle.

| What does CAA offer for members?

CAA offers some regularly scheduled activities for members and friends that are always fun and informative.

Monthly Mixers

Monthly Mixers are held on the third Thursday of every month from 3-6 pm at rotating restaurant venues in the San Ramón area.  It is an opportunity to mix and mingle with old and new friends in a relaxed setting and to try out some of the local restaurants at the same time.

Thursday Morning Coffee

Thursday Morning Coffee at Café Delicias in San Ramón has become a tradition for gringos living in or visiting the San Ramón area. From 9–11 am each week, you can ask questions, share information, and chat with old and new friends, all while enjoying breakfast and a fresh hot cup of Costa Rican coffee.

Solo Expat Lunches

Solo Expat lunches are held monthly at noon at various restaurants in the San Ramón area. It is an opportunity for those who are experiencing Costa Rica on their own, to meet similar folks to socialize and connect for activities and fun.

A new member described her experience at a recent mixer:

“I had a WONDERFUL time. Made new friends. Received referrals for drivers and general practitioners. The food was DELISH! But the best part of it all is the group of positive, dynamic people! HUGE “thank you” to members and leaders of CAA for organizing another AMAZING social event!”

In addition, there are many other scheduled and impromptu activities and events offered by CAA or individual members themselves as well as organizations we support. Holiday get-togethers and events, day-away travel trips, various classes and instructional activities, and outdoor recreational activities all provide opportunities for fun and fellowship.
