On Saturday, January 24, twenty folks from the San Ramon area gathered at the home of Barbara Thompson and Fil Silbey to enjoy a delightful afternoon of poetry and music.

Johann Benavides, a poet and local Spanish teacher, read English translations of his poems from his recently published book of confessional poetry, “Withered  Springs.”  Vanessa Huertas Miranda, the book’s illustrator, educated the attendees about the process of illustrating the poems and publishing the book.

In addition, five original poems were read by attendees who are members of Carol Wyatt’s poetry class, which has been meeting for the last several months.

The afternoon ended with local world music musicians, José on digerido and mouth harp, and Mario on drums, performing their original compositions.

Thank you to Barbara Thompson and others for organizing this delightful and upbeat creative arts event for poetry lovers in the San Ramon area.

Do you have plans for another event? I would be interested in particpating in reading one of my poems.
